Tata Motors plans six launches by March 2027, EVs lead push
Autocar India, 19 May '26
Tata Motors has outlined plans for six product launches by March 2027. Of these, two will be all-new models and four will be facelifts of existing models.
FY2027 product plans: details
Leading Tata Motors' upcoming product cycle is the Sierra EV, which is scheduled to go on sale in India in Q2 FY2027 (July to September), approximately eight to nine months after the launch of the internal combustion engine (ICE) version of the Sierra. The Sierra EV will be positioned between the Curvv EV and Harrier EV within the company's electric vehicle portfolio. It is expected to be offered with 55 kWh and 65 kWh battery options, along with single-motor rear-wheel-drive (RWD) and dual-motor all-wheel-drive (AWD) configurations.
Tata's first three-row EV planned
It has been reported that Tata Motors plans to launch the Safari EV during the festive season of 2026. This model is expected to be the company's second new product for the financial year and its first three-row electric vehicle.
The Safari EV will serve as the flagship of Tata Motors' EV range and is expected to compete with models such as the Mahindra XEV 9S. Battery options are likely to be carried over from the Harrier EV, including 65 kWh and 75 kWh packs with RWD and AWD configurations.
Entry-level Tata range expected to receive updates
The four planned facelifts are expected to include both the internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric variants of the Tiago and Tigor. These entry-level models have been in the market with limited updates for an extended period. Test vehicles of an updated Tiago EV were observed on Indian roads earlier in the year. The updated Tiago and Tigor EVs are expected to feature Tata's 6-in-1 drivetrain system, which was first introduced with the 2026 Punch EV facelift.
Tata Avinya brand developments expected in FY2027
In the latter half of FY2027, Tata Motors is also expected to introduce the first production model from its Avinya premium brand, potentially at the 2027 Bharat Mobility Show. The first Avinya model is expected to be a large SUV and will be based on Tata Motors' dedicated electric skateboard architecture.
