Government ramps up electric vehicle incentives

Secretary of State for the Ministry of Economy and Finance, Hean Sahib chaired a high-level meeting on May 18th to discuss investment incentives for the electric vehicle (EV) assembly sector in Cambodia.
Sahib, who heads the working group on automotive investment, led officials in reviewing legal frameworks and incentive mechanisms aimed at attracting manufacturers to the Kingdom. The discussions focused on local supply chains and the economic impact of green technology adoption.
Referring to the priorities of the Royal Government of Cambodia, Sahib stated that the development of the EV sector is intended to support economic diversification and reduce reliance on fossil fuels. He added that the projects are expected to contribute to employment and technology transfer.
The meeting concluded with instructions for the technical departments to conduct further studies to ensure that future policies remain aligned with Cambodia's automotive development plans and international environmental commitments.
