Renault Korea announced on the 24th that it had signed an agreement with the city of Busan on the 23rd at Busan City Hall to establish electric vehicle production facilities at its Busan plant.

The agreement forms part of a new investment plan announced in 2025 at the 'APEC CEO Summit Korea 2025'.

In 2025, Renault Korea installed a total of 68 pieces of equipment at the Busan plant, enabling a single mixed production line to manufacture internal combustion engine vehicles, hybrid vehicles and pure electric vehicles.

As a result, the plant is currently producing hybrid models such as the Filante, Grand Koleos and Arkana, as well as the pure electric model, Polestar 4.

The company plans to undertake additional investments in equipment to expand the production of electrified models.

Once these investments are completed, the Busan plant's production capacity for electrified models is expected to increase.

The Renault Korea Busan plant is capable of producing up to four platforms and eight different models on a single production line and has served as a production base for the Renault Group.

In the Renault Group's newly announced mid- to long-term strategy, the 'Future Ready Plan', the Busan plant is identified as one of five global hubs outside Europe intended to support its presence in global markets.

The city of Busan is considering the purchase of the Filante, Renault's crossover produced in Busan and exported to international markets, for use as an official city vehicle. The Filante is an E-segment crossover model that combines the space characteristics of an SUV with features associated with a sedan.

It includes an Illuminated Signature Lozenge Logo, a tech-focused interior based on First Class Lounge Seats, a hybrid E-Tech powertrain delivering a maximum system output of 250 PS, and AI-based connectivity services.
