Set to enter the Malaysian motorcycle market next year is the 2024 Benda Chinchilla 500 cruiser. The Chinchilla 500 will join two other Benda models in Malaysia, the Napoleon Bob and Dark Flag V4, which were unveiled during the 2024 Malaysia Auto Show.
The Chinchilla 500 was showcased to the public at the China International Motorcycle Trade Exhibition (CIMA 2024) and is an upgrade over the previous Chinchilla model. Powered by a 475.6 cc V-twin engine, it produces 52 PS at 8,800 rpm and 48 Nm of torque at 6,700 rpm.
Mated to a six-speed gearbox with belt final drive, Benda claims the Chinchilla 500 now reaches a top speed of 150 km/h. The cruiser has also shed three kg, bringing its overall weight down to 212 kg, and with a 16-litre fuel tank, the Chinchilla 500's ergonomics have been enhanced with a redesigned 705 mm tall seat.
Simpler in design compared to other models in Benda's lineup, the Chinchilla 500 draws styling inspiration from the Harley-Davidson Sportster. Suspension is managed by upside-down forks at the front and twin shock absorbers at the rear.
Braking is handled by single hydraulic discs on the front and rear 16-inch wheels, while two-channel ABS and traction control come as standard. Riding information is displayed via a single round gauge positioned above the handlebars, and the bike features LED lighting throughout.
