A partnership between Hyundai Motor Group, the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), and Vietnam's Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) has been established to support curriculum design, programme governance, and training infrastructure development.
The programme is scheduled to run from the second half of 2026 through 2031 and will connect graduates with small and medium-sized component manufacturers in Vietnam.
Hyundai Motor Group has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with KOICA and MOET to develop a technical workforce for Vietnam's automotive sector.
The signing ceremony was attended by Sung Kim, President and Head of Strategic Planning Division at Hyundai Motor Group; Won Sam Chang, President of KOICA; and H.E. Mr. Le Quan, Deputy Minister of Education and Training in Vietnam.
The agreement establishes a trilateral industry-government partnership focused on a skills development programme. Through the use of technical expertise, curriculum resources, and training infrastructure, the partners aim to develop a workforce aligned with the requirements of Vietnam's automotive sector.
"Vietnam's automotive market is growing, and the demand for skilled professionals is increasing. By combining Hyundai Motor Group's expertise in workforce development with KOICA's capabilities in development cooperation, the programme aims to provide Vietnamese students with structured educational pathways and facilitate transitions into automotive careers," said Sung Kim, President and Head of Strategic Planning Division, Hyundai Motor Group.
"This MoU represents collaboration between industry, government, and academia. The initiative is intended to support workforce capabilities and the development of Vietnam's automotive sector in line with long-term objectives," said Won Sam Chang, President of KOICA.
"Vietnam faces increasing demand for skilled automotive professionals, and this partnership provides an approach to addressing this requirement. MOET will support the initiative and consider additional policies to promote specialised talent development across the sector," said H.E. Mr. Le Quan, Deputy Minister of Education and Training in Vietnam.
Programme structure
Hyundai Motor Group will contribute to curriculum design in collaboration with KOICA to align training with industry requirements. The programme will focus on practical manufacturing disciplines, including die-casting, press forming, and welding, to prepare participants for production roles.
KOICA will oversee programme governance and the implementation of technical training modules, while MOET will provide administrative support through its vocational training institutions.
Training is scheduled to begin in the second half of 2026 and will continue until 2031, with multiple cohorts of automotive technicians expected to complete the programme. Upon completion, participants will be connected with employment opportunities at small and medium-sized component manufacturers operating in Vietnam.
The employment linkage is a component of the programme, intended to facilitate workforce entry for trainees and to provide skilled technicians to automotive component manufacturers in Vietnam and other markets.
