Kompas Otomotif, 20 Jul '26
Geely Auto Indonesia introduced the all-new Coolray in Mandalika, Lombok, on July 19th, 2026.
The compact five-passenger sport utility vehicle (SUV) is positioned to compete in a segment that includes models such as the Honda HR-V, Toyota Yaris Cross, Mitsubishi Xforce, Suzuki Grand Vitara and Hyundai Creta.
The Coolray is powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine that produces a maximum output of 174PS and 290Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a seven-speed wet dual-clutch transmission (DCT). The SUV also offers four driving modes - Eco, Comfort, Sport and Adaptive. Geely claims the Coolray is capable of reaching a top speed of up to 200km/h.
"Coolray is targeting the younger generation who want a powerful car with abundant features," said Constantinus Herlijoso, Sales & Channel Development Director of Geely Auto Indonesia, during the product introduction.
The exterior design features bumper contours with angular styling. Additional exterior elements include a rear spoiler with carbon-fibre-style accents and an "S" badge positioned on both sides. The brake calipers are finished in red, while the vehicle is fitted with gloss-black 18-inch alloy wheels. The model also features a two-tone exterior colour scheme.
Inside, the cabin features a two-tone burnt-red and black colour theme. The vehicle is equipped with semi-bucket seats. The dashboard incorporates a limited number of physical controls, including the engine start/stop button, parking brake and headlight levelling controls positioned to the right of the steering wheel. Physical buttons for air-conditioning activation, automatic climate control, hazard lights and the defogger are located on the centre console to the driver's left.
Regarding pricing, Herlijoso stated that the company was not yet prepared to announce the vehicle's selling price as part of its marketing strategy.
"The official price announcement will be made at GIIAS 2026," said Herlijoso.
For reference, a closely related model, the Proton X50, is priced in Malaysia from MYR 89,800 (US$ 21,960), equivalent to approximately IDR 393.3 million.
