Chevrolet, under its exclusive Philippine distributor HARIPhil Asia Resources, has introduced two electrified offerings: the Captiva EV and the Captiva PHEV.
The new models are distinct from the Captiva MPV launched in 2024. Instead of a seven-seater, the electrified Captiva comes as a five-seat compact SUV offered either as a battery electric vehicle (BEV) or a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV). It measures 4,745 mm long, 1,890 mm wide, and 1,675 mm tall, positioning it in the compact SUV segment.
Powertrain and range
The Captiva PHEV pairs a 1.5-litre petrol engine with an electric motor, delivering a combined 207 PS and 310 Nm of torque. It uses a 20.5-kWh LFP battery, offering an all-electric range of around 90 km and a combined range of up to 1,000 km with a full fuel tank.
The Captiva EV features the same front-mounted electric motor producing 207 PS and 310 Nm of torque, powered by a 60-kWh LFP battery with a claimed range of 415 km on a single charge.
Both variants support AC and DC charging. The PHEV supports up to 3.3 kW AC and 24 kW DC charging, while the EV supports up to 6.6 kW AC and 120 kW DC fast charging.
Features and equipment
Built on a 2,800 mm wheelbase with independent suspension and 18-inch wheels, the Captiva is equipped with automatic LED headlamps with intelligent high beam and active cornering, rain-sensing wipers, heated power-folding mirrors, a panoramic sunroof, LED tail lamps, and a power tailgate.
Inside, the cabin features black soft-touch materials with copper-coloured accents and open wood trim. PVC leather seats are standard, with a six-way power-adjustable driver's seat.
Technology highlights include an 8.8-inch digital instrument display and a 15.6-inch central touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic climate control with rear vents, a six-speaker audio system, an electronic parking brake with auto hold, and a smart key system with walk-away auto lock.
Safety features include six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, hill start and hill descent control, a 360-degree camera, and a tyre pressure monitoring system. The models are also equipped with an advanced driver assistance system featuring Forward Collision Warning with Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Warning with Lane Departure Prevention, Lane Keep Assist with Emergency Lane Keeping, and Adaptive Cruise Control with Traffic Jam Assist.
