Toyota to launch next-generation Hilux soon

Toyota Motor Philippines is continuing preparations for multiple model launches in 2026, having already revealed the Urban Cruiser EV and the all-new RAV4 HEV earlier in 2026.
However, models such as the Land Cruiser 300 HEV, Land Cruiser FJ, and the next-generation Toyota Hilux have yet to be introduced.
The Department of Energy has listed an upcoming Hilux 4x4 battery electric vehicle (BEV), which is expected to feature a 59.2 kWh battery and deliver a maximum output of 176 PS.
In parallel, regulatory filings indicate that Toyota has secured approval for a light-duty vehicle available with two engine options. One engine has a displacement of 2,775 cc, while the other is 2,393 cc. Light-duty vehicles in this category typically refer to pickup trucks, suggesting that this development relates to the next-generation Hilux.
The 2,775 cc engine is likely the 2.8-litre 1GD-FTV turbo-diesel, while the 2,393 cc unit is expected to be the 2.4-litre 2GD-FTV turbo-diesel.
In Thailand, the latest Hilux was initially introduced with only the 2.8-litre engine, producing 204 PS and up to 500 Nm of torque when paired with a six-speed automatic transmission, or 420 Nm with a manual gearbox.
For the Philippine market, the next-generation model may be offered with both engine options, with the 2.4-litre variant expected to produce 150 PS and up to 400 Nm of torque.
An official launch timeline has not yet been confirmed. However, the upcoming Philippine International Motor Show in June may serve as a potential venue for the debut of the next-generation Hilux, alongside other planned Toyota models.
