Suzuki GSX-8R launched
Autocar India, 8 Oct '24
Suzuki has launched the all-new GSX-8R in India, which is set to compete with the Triumph Daytona 660, Aprilia RS 660, and Kawasaki Ninja 650.
Powering the GSX-8R is a 776cc parallel twin motor that produces 83 PS and 78 Nm of torque. This motor also powers the Suzuki V-Strom 800DE but is in a different state of tune, delivering slightly less power in the adventure variant.
The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox, equipped with a bi-directional quick shifter, which comes as standard. The new GSX-8R adopts Suzuki's latest design language, featuring a compact, vertically-stacked LED headlamp framed by air intakes.
In terms of features, it offers a ride-by-wire throttle, traction control, multiple ride modes, and ABS. For braking, it is fitted with dual 310 mm front discs and a single 240 mm rear disc.
With a fuel tank capacity of 14-litres and a kerb weight of 205 kg, the GSX-8R is designed to deliver both performance and practicality.
It rides on cast aluminium wheels wrapped in Dunlop Road Sport 2 tyres. The GSX-8R is suspended by a Showa USD fork and a Showa monoshock, which allows for pre-load adjustment.
Currently, Suzuki offers the GSX-8R in three colours: Metallic Matte Sword Silver, Metallic Triton Blue, and Metallic Matte Black No.2. It will rival the Kawasaki Ninja 650, Triumph Daytona 660, and Aprilia RS 660.
