As demand for electric vehicles (EVs) continues to grow in the Philippines, more car brands are introducing new and diverse offerings to the local market.
Most Chinese car brands, despite being relatively new to the automotive industry, are already disrupting the sector by offering advanced technology, innovative design, and greater consumer choice. In fact, domestic brands are surpassing more established car manufacturers in China.
The EV market in China has expanded rapidly in recent years, with these brands producing more EVs than any other car manufacturers worldwide.
While EVs remain less common in the Philippines compared to China and the United States, the local market is gradually adopting more of these environmentally friendly vehicles. A new Chinese brand, Omoda & Jaecoo, has now entered the Philippine market, offering both petrol and electric vehicles.
The brand officially launched in the Philippines in February, 2025, introducing three models: the Omoda C5, the Omoda E5, and the Jaecoo EJ6. Prior to its official launch, the company had been showcasing its vehicles in the country since 2024, including appearances at the Manila International Auto Show and other major automotive events.
"Since first entering the market in 2023, there has been strong demand for vehicles that combine sleek style with smart technology. Now, Filipino drivers can finally experience our models, designed for both city streets and adventure trails," the brand stated.
According to the company, it offers more than just EVs, providing thoughtfully designed vehicles equipped with technology typically found only in premium cars.
The C5 is a crossover featuring a sleek design and advanced technology. The E5 is a fully electric vehicle with a futuristic design. The EJ6 is an all-electric sports utility vehicle (SUV) that combines sustainable and premium engineering with a rugged aesthetic.
The brand's vehicles have already attracted the attention of Filipino buyers, and the company has received orders from customers eager to own EVs.
"With the warm reception that the C5 and E5 received even before our official launch, we were inspired to introduce a promotional offer for our Filipino buyers. This initiative allows more Filipinos to experience premium automotive innovation first-hand," said Shawn Xu, CEO of Omoda & Jaecoo Global.
The C5 is available at a promotional price of PHP 898,000 (US$ 15,650) (retail price PHP 998,000) for the 1.5-litre Lifestyle variant, PHP 1.059 million (retail price PHP 1.159 million) for the 1.5T Comfort variant, and PHP 1.179 million (retail price PHP 1.279 million) for the 1.5T Luxury variant. Customers can also receive a PHP 110,000 discount with a PHP 10,000 deposit.
The E5 is offered at a promotional price of PHP 1.499 million (retail price PHP 1.699 million) for the Luxury-Extended Range variant, with a PHP 220,000 discount available for customers placing a PHP 20,000 deposit.
