Honda issues recall on select CR-V RS e HEV SUVs locally
Car Guide, 20 Jan '25
Honda Cars Philippines (HCPI) has announced a recall for select CR-V RS e:HEV SUVs due to two issues: a defect in the High-Pressure Fuel Pump, which may result in the emission of petrol fumes, and a problem with the Steering Gearbox, which can cause snagging, unusual sounds, and vibrations when turning.
The High-Pressure Fuel Pump recall affects select CR-V RS e:HEV E-CVT units from the 2023 to 2024 model years. The High-Pressure Fuel Pumps in these units may have cracks on Core B, potentially leading to the emission of petrol fumes. Customers may notice the smell of petrol while idling or driving.
HCPI has confirmed that all 1,351 affected units will undergo inspection and, if necessary, repairs, free of charge.
The Steering Gearbox recall addresses issues such as snagging, unusual sounds, and vibrations when turning. This problem arises from a reduction in the amount of grease in the worm gear's meshing area within the Electric Power Steering Gearbox. Over time, this leads to increased sliding resistance in the meshing area, causing torque fluctuations.
As a result, drivers may experience an unusual sound, unsmooth steering, or "sticky steering," which could lead to discomfort.
HCPI reports that 5,505 units are affected by this issue. Replacement parts and labour for this voluntary recall will also be provided free of charge.
No incidents or accidents related to either recall have been reported locally. HCPI is urging all affected customers to take advantage of the inspection and replacement services for these defective parts.
Owners may visit any of the 38 Honda Cars dealerships or three authorised service centres nationwide starting from 17 January 2025.
Customers can verify if their vehicle is affected by entering its 17-digit Chassis Number or Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) in the Chassis/VIN search tool on the recall information webpage. Alternatively, they can contact Honda's customer service hotline for further assistance.
