Forthing has entered Bangladesh's electric vehicle market with the launch of the Friday electric sports SUV, with Akij Renewable Energy and Automobiles Limited (AREAL), the green mobility and renewable energy concern and sister company of Akij Venture Group, appointed as the exclusive distributor of Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor in the country.
The Friday was unveiled at a ceremony at Radisson Blu Dhaka Water Garden in Dhaka, marking AREAL's appointment as Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor's exclusive distributor in Bangladesh. The event was attended by a visiting delegation from Forthing, AREAL's senior management, car dealers, banking partners, corporate fleet customers and members of the media.
The event included an introduction to the history of the Forthing brand, followed by the unveiling of the Friday EV and a presentation on AREAL's plans for nationwide servicing and charging infrastructure in Bangladesh.
The launch marks AREAL's entry into Bangladesh's electric mobility market and introduces the Forthing brand to the country's electric vehicle segment. AREAL said the vehicle's design, technology and safety features are intended to support the use of electric vehicles in Bangladesh.
AREAL offers passenger electric vehicles, commercial vehicles, freezer vans, electric buses, charging infrastructure, financing and after-sales services in Bangladesh. The company describes these services as an integrated electric transport offering.
Speaking at the launch, Chairman of Akij Venture Group Sheikh Shamim Uddin said, "The new Dongfeng Friday EV represents our vision for the future of mobility in Bangladesh. It is a modern sports SUV that combines intelligent technology, dynamic performance and a 5-star safety rating."
He added, "Clean, smart and purpose-driven, this vehicle embodies our commitment to building a safer and more sustainable transportation ecosystem for generations to come. We, together with our partners, are so confident in the quality and reliability of the Friday EV that we are offering our customers a guarantee instead of a conventional warranty."
