BYD launches three new EVs

BYD has officially launched three new energy vehicles in Bangladesh - the Seal 5, Seal 6 and Sealion 6 AWD.
The Seal 5 has been introduced as a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) sedan powered by BYD's DM-i technology and Blade Battery. Equipped with a 1,500cc Xiaoyun engine, the sedan delivers a combined maximum output of 154 kW and 300 Nm of torque, along with a combined driving range of up to 1,000 km.
It also features Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) technologies, a 360-degree HD camera, six airbags, vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality, regenerative braking, and a 12.8-inch infotainment system.
The fully electric Seal 6 offers a driving range of up to 410 km and is powered by a rear-wheel-drive permanent magnet synchronous motor producing 95 kW of power and 220 Nm of torque. The model is equipped with DC fast charging, ADAS technologies, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, leather seats, PM2.5 air filtration, and BYD's Blade Battery technology.
Meanwhile, the Sealion 6 AWD expands the company's SUV line-up with an all-wheel-drive plug-in hybrid SUV offering up to 128 km of pure electric driving range. The model is supported by a 1,500cc turbocharged engine.
The Sealion 6 AWD is equipped with a 15.6-inch infotainment display, an Infinity sound system, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated and heated seats, V2L support, seven airbags, and ADAS safety technologies.
Speaking at the launch event, Ketsu Zhang stated that Bangladesh is becoming an increasingly important market in BYD's global new energy vehicle strategy.
According to Zhang, the launch of the Seal 5, Seal 6 and Sealion 6 AWD brings technologies, safety systems and mobility solutions aligned with the direction of the transportation sector. Zhang further added that the company expects the new models to influence the adoption of new energy vehicles in Bangladesh.
Imtiaz Nawsher stated that the launch reflects BYD Bangladesh's plan to expand the country's new energy vehicle ecosystem by offering products suited to different lifestyles and driving requirements.
According to Nawsher, the line-up combines hybrid, fully electric and SUV models as part of the company's mobility strategy in Bangladesh.
The Seal 5 has been priced at BDT 3.89 million (US$ 31,670) for the first 500 units, while the fully electric Seal 6 has been introduced at BDT 4.89 million. The Sealion 6 AWD has been launched at BDT 7.19 million.
All three models are equipped with BYD's Blade Battery technology and are offered with the company's warranty coverage.
BYD stated that the warranty programme is intended to support customer confidence in the brand's presence in Bangladesh's new energy vehicle market.
