BYD Seal 06 GT EV hatchback to launch in China on October 18th

The BYD Seal 06 GT electric hatchback will enter the Chinese market on October 18th, as disclosed by the BYD Ocean series general manager.
The Seal 06 GT began pre-sales in late August, with prices ranging from CNY 150,000 to 200,000 (US$ 21,280 to 28,370).
The BYD Seal 06 GT is a highly anticipated hatchback from the world's largest NEV manufacturer. It is derived from the Ocean-M concept car, which was unveiled at the Beijing Auto Show in April 2024. The market launch of the Seal 06 GT was initially planned for late September but has been postponed until October.

BYD Ocean series general manager Zhang Zhuo announced on Chinese social media platform Weibo that the Seal 06 GT will enter the domestic market on 18th October. Although the exact prices remain undisclosed, BYD had previously indicated that the price range for this hatchback would fall between CNY 150,000 and 200,000. It is difficult to define the Seal 06 GT's direct competitors, as hatchbacks are not particularly popular in China.
The BYD Seal is built on the brand's latest e-Platform 3.0 Evo architecture. Its exterior design follows the Marine Aesthetics design language, featuring a sporty front bumper, slim LED headlights, and a single taillight unit. The Seal 06 GT is not a small hatchback; its dimensions are 4,630 mm in length, 1,880 mm in width, and 1,490 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,820 mm.
Inside, the Seal 06 GT features BYD's conventional interior layout. The centre console is equipped with a 15.6-inch rotatable floating screen and a 10.25-inch LCD instrument cluster. Additionally, it includes a 12-inch head-up display. Other interior features include wireless phone charging pads and the DiLink 100 cockpit system.
The BYD Seal 06 GT offers three powertrain options. The entry-level model has rear-wheel drive, delivering 160 kW (214 PS) and 310 Nm of torque. A more powerful variant produces 165 kW (221 PS) and 330 Nm of torque. The four-wheel-drive variant of the BYD Seal 06 GT provides a peak power output of 310 kW (415 PS), allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds. There are two LFP battery options available: 60 kWh and 73 kWh, providing a range of 505 to 605 km (CLTC).
