Several automotive manufacturers unveiled new products and outlined expansion plans for the Indonesian market at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2026, with BAIC, Chery, DFSK, Honda, Mazda, Toyota, Wuling and Mitsubishi showcasing new hybrid, electric and internal combustion-powered vehicles.

BAIC

Meanwhile, BAIC Indonesia confirmed it will launch the BJ41 Hybrid SUV in Indonesia next year. According to Jerry Hermawan Lo, Founder of JHL International Otomotif (JIO), the Brand Holder Agent (APM) for BAIC in Indonesia, the model will compete in the off-road SUV segment with styling comparable to the Jeep Rubicon while offering hybrid technology, self-parking capability and an electricity-sharing feature.

Ahead of its arrival, the BJ30 Hybrid remains BAIC's best-selling model. Jerry said its self-charging hybrid system eliminates the need for external charging while enabling a driving range of up to 1,000 kilometres on a single tank of fuel.

BAIC is also positioning the T1 as a family and urban vehicle, while the BJ30 Hybrid targets buyers who regularly undertake long-distance journeys.

The company said it remains optimistic about Indonesia's automotive market, citing its long history since 1958, experience manufacturing a wide range of vehicles, including military vehicles, and its joint venture with Mercedes-Benz in China, which contributes to technology development and product quality. BAIC also confirmed it will continue offering petrol, diesel, hybrid and battery electric vehicles (BEVs), saying a multi-powertrain strategy better suits Indonesia's diverse market requirements, particularly sectors such as mining and heavy industry where charging infrastructure remains limited.

Chery

Chery Sales Indonesia expanded its electrified line-up with the J6T Super Hybrid (CSH), which uses a Range Extended Electric Vehicle (REEV) powertrain combining a petrol engine, electric motor and battery pack. The SUV offers a combined driving range of up to 1,400 km and an electric-only range of up to 190 km.

The J6T Super Hybrid features a 15.6-inch infotainment touchscreen, a 6.0 kW Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) function capable of supplying up to 6,000 watts of power, 220 mm of ground clearance and a water-wading depth of 650 mm, exceeding the 625 mm capability of the J6 battery electric vehicle (BEV). Chery has opened bookings through its official website ahead of the model's fourth-quarter launch, although pricing has yet to be announced.

DFSK

DFSK, the new energy vehicle (NEV) brand under SERES Group, unveiled the right-hand-drive E5 PLUS, marking its first launch in a right-hand-drive market following its debut at the 2026 International Automotive & Supply Chain Expo in Hong Kong. The launch supports the brand's global expansion and strengthens its Southeast Asian presence.

Developed for Southeast Asian families, the E5 PLUS uses the SERES Super Hybrid System with a 25.3 kWh battery, delivering an NEDC-rated electric-only range of up to 140 km and a combined range of up to 1,400 km. The Indonesian model features a six-seat layout with second-row captain's seats, adaptive FSD suspension, multilingual infotainment supporting Bahasa Indonesia, Thai, Malay, Vietnamese and Traditional Chinese, Apple CarPlay compatibility and entertainment applications including Spotify.

The model has already been introduced in North Africa and South America and has received more than 1,200 orders since pre-sales opened in Indonesia. Production takes place at SERES Group's Indonesian manufacturing facility, which also supports exports and local supply chain development. DFSK said it will continue investing in research and development, manufacturing, sales and aftersales operations.

Honda

Honda showcased the Civic e:HEV RS equipped with the new S+ Shift system alongside the Super-One. First introduced on the Honda Prelude, the system simulates the gear changes of an eight-speed transmission despite the Civic e:HEV using an electric motor driving the front wheels through a single-speed transmission, while the petrol engine operates primarily at higher speeds.

Activating S+ Shift displays a rev counter on the 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster and changes the steering wheel paddles from controlling regenerative braking to simulated gear shifting. The system also adds simulated shift shock, synchronised engine rev changes and automatic upshifts before an artificial rev limiter, while retaining Honda's Linear Shift Control.

The hybrid powertrain remains unchanged, combining a 184 PS electric motor producing 315 Nm with a 2.0-litre petrol engine producing 141 PS and 182 Nm, for a combined output of 203 PS.

Like the Thai-market model, the Indonesian Civic e:HEV RS does not receive the Japanese model's push-button gear selector or the Prelude's flat-bottom steering wheel with metal paddle shifters, but retains RS-specific red accents and stitching. Externally, it features black door handles, RS badging, black 17-inch alloy wheels, blind spot monitoring and Honda's LaneWatch system. The Civic is sold exclusively as the e:HEV RS in Indonesia, meaning every unit receives the S+ Shift system. Pricing has yet to be announced, although the current Civic e:HEV RS is priced at IDR 699 million (US$ 38,785).

Mazda

Eurokars Motor Indonesia (EMI) launched the locally assembled Mazda CX-30, making it the first Mazda model assembled in Indonesia using a completely knocked down (CKD) process. Chief Operating Officer Ricky Thio said production follows Mazda Global Manufacturing Standards while enabling more competitive pricing.

The CX-30 retains Mazda's Kodo design philosophy, a human-centric interior with a 12-speaker Bose audio system and a 430-litre luggage compartment. Safety equipment includes seven airbags and the i-Activsense suite featuring Smart Brake Support (SBS), Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS), Lane-keep Assist System (LAS) and Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC).

Power comes from a Skyactiv-G engine paired with Skyactiv-Vehicle Architecture, while aerodynamic features including the Aerodynamic Signature Wing and Air Curtains improve stability and efficiency. The locally assembled CX-30 is priced from IDR 499 million on the road in Jakarta and is offered in five exterior colours, backed by a three-year/100,000 km warranty and three years or 60,000 km of free scheduled servicing. Mazda's Indonesian plant occupies a 6.2-hectare site in Citeureup, Bogor, West Java, built with an initial investment of IDR 400 billion and an annual production capacity of up to 5,700 vehicles.

Toyota

Toyota Astra Motor (TAM) launched the Land Cruiser 300 Hybrid, marking the first hybrid-electric Land Cruiser. President Director Takuya Yokohama said the model forms part of Toyota's multi-pathway strategy towards net-zero emissions through a range of technologies, from biofuel-compatible internal combustion engines to hybrids and BEVs. He also said Toyota's electrified vehicle sales had doubled compared with the same period last year.

The Land Cruiser 300 Hybrid is powered by a 3.5-litre twin-turbocharged V35A-FTS V6 petrol engine paired with an electric motor, producing a combined 341 kW and 790 Nm. It is the first Land Cruiser to use Toyota's Parallel Hybrid System, with the electric motor positioned between the engine and the 10-speed automatic transmission. The Open Clutch system allows the petrol engine and electric motor to operate independently or together, while Auto Multi Terrain Select automatically adjusts driving modes. The Land Cruiser 300 Hybrid EV is priced at IDR 2.716 billion, while the GR Sport Hybrid EV is priced at IDR 2.816 billion.

Wuling

Wuling Motors expanded its electric hatchback range with the Cloud EV SE Lite and Cloud EV SE Pro. Both variants are powered by a 38 kWh battery delivering a CLTC-rated range of up to 360 km, a 100 kW electric motor, a black headliner, MacPherson strut front suspension and a torsion beam rear suspension.

The Lite variant includes LED headlamps, a 10.1-inch Intelligent Control Panel, an 8.8-inch TFT instrument cluster, 15 W wireless smartphone charging, automatic climate control, a PM2.5 air filter, keyless entry and start, cruise control, a rear parking camera, smartphone connectivity, ESC, EPB, AVH, TPMS and dual front SRS airbags.

The Pro variant adds cornering LED headlamps, Italian Style Bubble seats, ambient lighting, a 15.6-inch Intelligent Control Panel, electrically adjustable front seats, a rear armrest with cup holders, a smart electric tailgate, a 360-degree surround-view camera and side airbags, increasing the total to four airbags. The Cloud EV SE Lite is priced at IDR 299 million, while the Cloud EV SE Pro costs IDR 339 million, with both available in Candy White, Starry Black, Milk Tea, Aurora Silver and Tungsten Grey.

Mitsubishi

Krama Yudha Tiga Berlian Motors (KTB) has officially launched the latest variant of the Mitsubishi Fuso Canter, the new Canter Bus FE 84G BCL, at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2026.

Marketed as the Canter Extra Long Bus, the new model expands Mitsubishi Fuso's commercial vehicle lineup in the passenger transport segment, targeting transportation demand driven by Indonesia's tourism sector and infrastructure development.

Mitsubishi Fuso is offering the Canter Extra Long Bus FE 84G BCL chassis at an off-the-road price of IDR 469,300,000 in the Greater Jakarta (Jabodetabek) area. Alongside the new model, the company is also providing after-sales service support to assist vehicle operation.
