The Wuling Mini EV has been launched in Hong Kong and is now available for sale.
The launch event was held on October 15th at Olympian City Phase 2 shopping mall. The five-door, four-seat electric hatchback is available in Standard Lite and Long Range versions and is aimed at young people, small families, first-time car buyers seeking an electric vehicle for urban commuting.
Introductory prices start at HKD 118,800 (US$ 15,140) for the Standard Lite, reduced from the original price of HKD 128,800, while the Long Range version is priced at HKD 138,800, down from HKD 148,800. Deliveries are expected to begin as early as mid-November. The vehicle will also be displayed at the Wuling Auto Show at Olympian City Phase 2 from October 15th to 21st as part of Wuling's micro electric vehicle range.
The Mini EV uses Wuling's 'Neo Classic' design language, with a rounded body, ring-shaped LED headlights and taillights, and clover-patterned wheel caps. The exterior also features LED turn signals integrated into the side mirrors and a high-mounted brake light. Buyers can choose from two two-tone colour options, Sky Blue and Milk Tea Brown, or a solid Starry Black finish.
It measures 3,268mm in length, 1,550mm in width and 1,575mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2,190mm and a minimum turning radius of 4.6 metres. These dimensions are intended to assist manoeuvring, parking and U-turns on Hong Kong's narrow and winding roads.
The cabin has a 2+2 seating layout and a beige and brown colour scheme. It features fabric seats and headroom for occupants. Standard equipment includes a smart key with intelligent entry and start functions, a multifunction steering wheel, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.1-inch central control screen, a rear parking camera, USB charging ports, and an electronic parking brake with an auto-hold function.
The Mini EV has four scene modes: Rest, Camping, Rain/Snow and Pet. Pet Mode maintains a constant cabin temperature and keeps the air conditioning operating to help prevent pets from becoming too hot or too cold when the owner leaves and locks the vehicle. The luggage compartment provides 170 litres of storage, increasing to 838 litres when the rear seats are folded down. The additional space can accommodate items such as a stroller or family luggage.
Both versions use a single electric motor that drives the rear wheels, producing 41 PS and 85 Nm of torque. The Standard Lite has a 16.2 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, while the Long Range version uses a 25.1 kWh LFP battery. Their claimed driving ranges are 205km and 301km, respectively.
Both variants support DC fast charging, allowing the battery charge level to increase from 30% to 80% in approximately 35 minutes. AC charging from 20% to 100% takes around 4.8 hours for the Standard Lite and 7.2 hours for the Long Range version. Home charging is also supported.
Safety equipment includes an anti-lock braking system (ABS), electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD), electronic stability control (ESC), hill start assist, tyre pressure monitoring, dual airbags and two ISOFIX child-seat anchor points in the rear seats. The vehicle also has an external pedestrian warning system to alert pedestrians to its presence.
The Wuling Mini EV is an entry-level electric vehicle intended for urban use in Hong Kong. It is available with two battery options and includes a luggage compartment that expands from 170 litres to 838 litres when the rear seats are folded. Features include Pet Mode and a range of standard safety and convenience equipment. Introductory prices are HKD 118,800 for the Standard Lite, reduced from HKD 128,800, and HKD 138,800 for the Long Range version, reduced from HKD 148,800. The offers are subject to limited availability.
