Tsuyo manufacturing plans EV powertrain facility in Karnataka

Tsuyo Manufacturing, an electric mobility component manufacturing company based in Delhi, announced on March 17th that it has received single-window clearance from the Karnataka government to establish a 20-acre electric vehicle powertrain manufacturing and validation facility in the Hubli-Dharwad region.
According to an official press release, the proposed facility will involve an investment of approximately Rs. 2.5 billion (US$ 27 million) and will focus on the development, manufacturing, and validation of advanced EV powertrain technologies.
Vijay Kumar, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Tsuyo Manufacturing, stated that the facility will contribute to developing an EV powertrain ecosystem in India, enabling the company to provide high-voltage and high-performance solutions for domestic and international markets.
The facility will include integrated production lines for electric traction motors, motor controllers, power electronics, and drivetrain systems. These systems will serve various electric mobility segments, including two-wheelers, three-wheelers, passenger vehicles, and commercial vehicles.
Approval for the project was granted by the State-Level Single Window Clearance Committee, enabling the company to proceed with the development of the integrated campus. Tsuyo Manufacturing had previously signed a letter of intent with the state government during the Bengaluru Tech Summit 2025. The project is planned to be implemented in two phases.
According to Lalit Baid, Founder and Chief Operating Officer of Tsuyo Manufacturing, the first phase will support powertrain platforms of up to 250 kW with 650V architectures. The second phase will expand capabilities to 1,100 kW and 850V direct current systems aimed at high-performance and commercial vehicle applications.
The facility is expected to create more than 500 jobs and develop specialised capabilities in electric motor design, power electronics, and drivetrain engineering. It will also include advanced testing laboratories and a dedicated test track for validating commercial vehicle powertrains.
