Perodua has commenced exports of the Traz compact SUV and the Alza MPV to Sri Lanka.

Distribution in Sri Lanka is handled by Unimo Enterprises, a wholly owned subsidiary of United Motors Lanka, which officially launched the two models at Cinnamon Lakeside in Colombo.

The introduction of the Traz SUV and Alza MPV expands Perodua's product portfolio in Sri Lanka. The two models are positioned as mobility solutions focused on efficiency, safety, comfort, practicality, and affordability. The launch event was attended by representatives from Perodua Malaysia, United Motors Lanka, Unimo Enterprises, corporate partners, financial institutions, customers, members of the media, and other industry stakeholders.

Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer Dato' Sri Zainal Abidin Ahmad said Sri Lanka has remained one of the company's largest export markets since the brand entered the market in 1997.

The company currently exports completely built-up (CBU) vehicles to six markets: Sri Lanka, Brunei, Fiji, Mauritius, Bangladesh, and Papua New Guinea. In addition, Perodua exports certified pre-owned vehicles, with Timor Leste becoming its latest export destination this year.

Group Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of United Motors Lanka, Chanaka Yatawara, said the lifting of Sri Lanka's vehicle import restrictions in 2025 had enabled the company to resume vehicle sales, reflecting continued customer demand for the brand.

"Supported by Perodua's manufacturing capabilities and the United Motors Group's sales and service network, the Traz and Alza are expected to continue building customer confidence among Sri Lankan families and businesses," he said.

To mark the launch, Perodua is offering a special introductory price for the first 50 customers in Sri Lanka.

All prices are inclusive of VAT and include a five-year or 150,000 km manufacturer's warranty. The relatively high prices reflect Sri Lanka's taxation structure on imported vehicles. Perodua also offers the Axia hatchback, Bezza sedan, Ativa compact SUV, Myvi hatchback, Aruz seven-seater SUV, Alza MPV, and the Traz SUV in Sri Lanka. Across the range, prices start from LKR 8.8 million and extend to approximately LKR 20 million.

The Traz, which was launched in Malaysia in December 2025 under the "Engineered Simplicity" philosophy, was developed for the daily needs of Malaysian drivers. The compact SUV features a contemporary design, a spacious cabin, and flexible storage for urban commuting and family use. It is powered by a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated 2NR-VE petrol engine producing 106 PS at 6,000 rpm and 138 Nm of torque at 4,200 rpm, paired with a D-CVT transmission using a split-gear system. Perodua claims fuel consumption of 21.3 km/l under the Malaysian Driving Cycle (MDC).

It has achieved a five-star ASEAN NCAP safety rating. Standard safety equipment includes six airbags, vehicle stability control, Autonomous Emergency Braking for city, inter-urban, and pedestrian scenarios, Blind Spot Detection, Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Keep Assist, and ISOFIX child-seat anchorages.

The second-generation Alza, introduced in 2022, remains one of Perodua's key models. The seven-seater MPV offers flexible seating configurations to accommodate passengers or luggage. It uses the same 1.5-litre Dual VVT-i naturally aspirated petrol engine as the Traz, producing 106 PS and 138 Nm, paired with a D-CVT transmission. The Alza delivers a claimed fuel efficiency of up to 22.0 km/l under the Malaysian Driving Cycle.

It also carries a five-star ASEAN NCAP safety rating, with standard features including six airbags, vehicle stability control, anti-lock braking, Autonomous Emergency Braking, and front and rear seatbelt reminders.

"The arrival of the Traz and Alza expands the range of vehicles available to Sri Lankan motorists," Chanaka Yatawara said.

He added that the combination of Perodua's manufacturing capabilities and the United Motors Group's nationwide sales and service network would continue to support demand for the brand in Sri Lanka.
