On 29th June, Rancon Auto Industries Limited launched the first locally assembled Mitsubishi Xpander in Bangladesh.
This development has significantly reduced the vehicle's price, with the starting price now as low as BDT 3.4 million (US$ 27,700), thereby making the Japanese model more competitive against Chinese alternatives in the market.
The Xpander has been a consistent part of Mitsubishi Bangladesh's line-up since its initial launch in 2018. Over the years, it has undergone several updates and facelifts, with the Xpander Cross variant introduced in 2023.
However, due to the introduction of new features and the ongoing currency challenges linked to the US dollar, the Xpander's price had increased substantially.
By 2024, the latest model was priced as high as BDT 4.45 million. With the recent local assembly, the price has now been reduced to BDT 3.4 million, enhancing its competitiveness, particularly within the Japanese-branded segment. At present, it is the most affordable brand-new Japanese vehicle in Bangladesh.
The 2025 Xpander continues to prioritise practicality. It is designed to accommodate family use, suitable for daily commuting, grocery shopping, weekend travel, and other regular activities.
Its exterior features a clean and confident design. Sharp headlights are integrated smoothly into the front fascia, contributing to a more assertive appearance. The sculpted sides and a 220mm ground clearance provide a slightly rugged character.
At the rear, the model incorporates streamlined lighting elements and a rear bumper with integrated reflectors, maintaining a tidy and understated design.
Inside, the cabin is arranged to be both practical and user-friendly. The dashboard adopts a modern layout, with well-placed controls aimed at enhancing driver convenience. A 10.36-inch touchscreen is mounted centrally, supporting wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for infotainment and navigation functions.
The Xpander offers flexible interior space, accommodating up to seven occupants across three rows without compromising comfort. Both legroom and headroom are sufficient for urban commutes and long-distance travel.
Fabric upholstery is standard, with optional leather upgrades. Soft-touch surfaces are present throughout the interior, contributing to a refined appearance.
The front seats provide adjustment features such as height and lumbar support, allowing drivers to find a suitable seating position. The second and third rows are foldable, enabling a shift between passenger transport and cargo loading as needed.
Rear passenger comfort is supported by four ceiling-mounted air-conditioning vents that deliver airflow to all three rows. This feature helps to compensate for the absence of a sunroof or moonroof.
Storage solutions are comprehensive, with multiple compartments including door pockets, cup holders, a centre console, glove box, and an additional compartment beneath the front passenger seat. These features enhance practicality and organisation within the cabin.
Power is delivered by a 1.5-litre inline-four engine paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission, producing 105 PS and 141 Nm of torque. While the engine is not performance-focused, it is adequate for routine driving and highway cruising.
The Xpander performs reliably over uneven terrain. With high ground clearance and 17-inch wheels, it maintains stability over potholes, speed bumps, and rough surfaces. Even when fully loaded, the ride remains composed, which is particularly advantageous in areas with poor road infrastructure.
The 2025 Xpander presents itself as a functional and cost-effective vehicle for family use. Its spacious layout, user-oriented features, and competitive pricing position it favourably in its segment, even against reconditioned alternatives.
Furthermore, the inclusion of warranty coverage enhances its appeal. Mitsubishi Bangladesh currently offers the Xpander in four variants - Eco, Sport, Premium, and Classic - each providing a distinct set of features.
Whether for city errands or extended family travel, the Xpander is designed to accommodate a wide range of mobility needs.
