The development of next-generation hybrid SUVs is continuing within the global automotive industry, with KG Mobility advancing a new mid-sized model under its SE10 project through technology collaboration with Chery Automobile in South Korea.
Industry sources indicate that the upcoming SE10 project will draw on technology developed by Chery. According to industry information released on March 5th, the base model for the mid- to large-sized SUV project, designated 'SE10', is the Chery Tiggo 9 Super Hybrid. The Tiggo 9 Super Hybrid is a three-row, seven-seat plug-in hybrid SUV built on Chery's Super Hybrid system.
Beginning with the mid-sized SE10 SUV, KG Mobility plans to introduce seven new models by 2030, including the KG Mobility KR10, as part of its product expansion plan.
KG Mobility signed a strategic partnership and platform licensing agreement with Chery in 2024 to jointly develop mid- and large-sized SUVs and collaborate on related technologies.
The first joint project, the SE10, is scheduled for development completion in 2026. The vehicle applies the Chery T2X platform to the KG Mobility F100 Concept that was presented at the Seoul Mobility Show 2023. The cooperation also covers several mobility technologies, including software-defined vehicles, autonomous driving systems, and advanced E/E architecture.
The production version of the SE10 is expected to use the chassis architecture of the Tiggo 9 while incorporating revised front-end styling and selected interior changes.
Based on the T2X platform, the Chery Tiggo 9 measures 4,810 mm in length, 1,925 mm in width, and 1,741 mm in height, with a 2,820 mm wheelbase, placing it in a similar size class to the Hyundai Santa Fe.
The export powertrain planned for 2026 combines a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with a three-speed hybrid automatic transmission (3DHT), three electric motors, and a 34 kWh lithium-ion battery. This system supports all-wheel drive and delivers a combined output of 434 PS and 580 Nm of torque. The SE10 is also expected to support integration of the plug-in hybrid powertrain from the Chery Tiggo 8 PHEV.
That configuration uses a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine paired with a single electric motor and a one-speed hybrid automatic transmission, combined with an 18.4 kWh battery pack in a front-wheel-drive layout. The system produces a maximum output of 207 PS, supports DC fast charging of up to 40 kW, and offers an electric-only driving range of approximately 95 km.
