Jaspal Group rolls out electric trucks for sustainability
Bangkok Post, 9 Apr '25
Jaspal Group (Jaspal Public Company), a prominent fashion and lifestyle brand in the ASEAN region, is advancing its sustainable development efforts by transforming its logistics operations through the adoption of clean energy solutions. The company has introduced electric freight trucks (EV trucks) and implemented waste reduction measures across its supply chain, aligning business growth with environmental responsibility.
Charan Singhsachathet, Chief Executive Officer of Jaspal Group, reiterated the company's commitment to promoting sustainability within the fashion industry.
"Priority is given to the use of clean energy in logistics, and efforts are made to reduce waste at every stage. These measures enhance cost efficiency and operational effectiveness while generating shared value for society and the environment," he stated. "All actions are guided by the principle of 'The Power of Sustainability', which serves as a catalyst for continuous innovation at Jaspal Group."
Charan further emphasised that effective leadership in the fashion sector must extend beyond aesthetics and trends, requiring a comprehensive approach to sustainable development.
"Sustainability must be embedded throughout the entire supply chain - from responsible manufacturing and low-emission logistics to conscious consumption. At Jaspal Group, the focus is placed on selecting sustainable materials, investing in environmentally responsible logistics, and raising consumer awareness through the use of recycled packaging. These initiatives contribute to Thailand's national objective of achieving Net Zero by 2065."
In collaboration with Schenker Thai Company, Jaspal Group has deployed four-wheel electric trucks to transport goods from distribution centres to retail outlets across Bangkok and nearby areas. In 2024 alone, this initiative resulted in a 2% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. The company intends to expand its electric vehicle fleet to six trucks in 2025 to service branches in provincial regions.
In addition to emissions reduction, Jaspal Group is actively working to minimise operational waste. A circular cardboard box system has been implemented, allowing packaging to be reused for deliveries between distribution centres and stores. The company also promotes sustainable consumer behaviour through campaigns that encourage the use of recycled paper bags.
This initiative underscores Jaspal Group's long-term commitment to responsible growth and further reinforces its position within the fashion and retail sector as an advocate for sustainability.
