Jaecoo introduces all-new J7 PHEV

Marking its latest product update at the Bangkok International Motor Show, the Jaecoo J7 PHEV has been presented with revised visual elements for the market in Thailand, where specification changes have been identified on vehicles displayed at the event.
The petrol-electric SUV is equipped with new 19-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels, also fitted to the Lepas L6 EV at the show, replacing the turbine-style wheels introduced with the model last year.
Inside, the vehicle has a brown faux leather interior applied across the seats, dashboard, door cards, and centre console. The wheel design and interior colour scheme are offered as a package, available only with either Carbon Crystal Black paint or Olive Grey.
There are no changes to the THB 999,000 (US$ 30,385) price or to the 279 PS Super Hybrid System (SHS), which comprises a 143 PS 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine, a 204 PS electric motor, a single-speed dedicated hybrid transmission, and an 18.3 kWh LFP battery, providing an electric-only range of 88 km.
The equipment list remains unchanged, including LED lighting, keyless entry and start, six-way power-adjustable driver and four-way power-adjustable front passenger seats with heating and ventilation, a 10.25-inch instrument display, a 14.8-inch portrait-oriented infotainment touchscreen, a head-up display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an eight-speaker Sony sound system, a 50-watt Qi wireless charger, a 360-degree 3D camera system with transparency mode, and a powered tailgate.
The safety equipment also remains unchanged. The J7 PHEV is equipped as standard with eight airbags, stability control, autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane centring assist, blind spot monitoring with collision prevention, rear cross-traffic alert with auto brake, a front departure alert, a door opening warning, and automatic high beam.
The wheel and interior trim combination is expected to be introduced in Malaysia, as Thailand sources these vehicles from Malaysia, where they are assembled in Shah Alam, as indicated by the sticker on the B-pillar. This explains why the unit on display is badged as the J7 PHEV, although it is marketed in Thailand as the Jaecoo 7 SHS. For reference, the J7 PHEV is priced in Malaysia at MYR 158,800 (US$ 39,625) on-the-road, excluding insurance.
