Hongqi has officially launched its brand in Hong Kong, with Kam Lung Motors Group appointed as its official distributor.
The new Hongqi Brand Experience Centre, located in Taikoo Shing on Hong Kong Island East, officially opened recently. Two right-hand-drive all-electric SUVs, the E-HS9 six-seater and the EHS5 five-seater, were showcased at the event, with indicative prices starting from HKD 998,800 (US$ 127,460) and HKD 399,000, respectively.
The new Hongqi Hong Kong Experience Centre spans more than 5,000 square feet and features an interior incorporating the brand's design elements and technology. The showroom also includes a "Hongqi History Wall" and a dedicated "Golden Sunflower Display Area", displaying two Hongqi models: the Guoya and the L5, the latter being a collector's model limited to 100 units worldwide. Political and business representatives from Hong Kong and mainland China attended the opening ceremony.
Wang Yao, General Manager for Southeast Asia at China FAW Group Import & Export, and Mai Qingde, Chairman of Kam Lung Motors Group, jointly officiated at the ribbon-cutting ceremony marking the opening of the showroom.
The E-HS9 all-electric SUV is a full-size model measuring 5,209 mm in length, 2,010 mm in width and 1,731 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,110 mm. The initial shipment to Hong Kong comprises the 2+2+2 six-seat variant, with an indicative price starting from HKD 998,800. The first batch of vehicles is scheduled for delivery from the end of July.
It features a waterfall-style grille, matrix LED headlights and 21-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels. In addition to solid black, white and blue exterior finishes, it is available in four two-tone colour combinations featuring a white body with a black roof. The cabin accommodates six occupants and includes two independently adjustable seats in the second row with ventilation and massage functions.
Power is supplied by a 120 kWh CATL ternary lithium battery paired with front and rear electric motors driving all four wheels. The system produces 646 PS and 710 Nm of torque, enabling the E-HS9 to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 5.5 seconds. It has a WLTP driving range of up to 548 km and comes with an adjustable air suspension system. The E-HS9 also supports DC fast charging at up to 140 kW, allowing the battery to be charged from 10 per cent to 80 per cent in 48 minutes.
The EHS5 is a mid-size five-seat all-electric SUV measuring 4.75 metres in length, 1.90 metres in width and 1.64 metres in height. Its interior and exterior styling follow the brand's design language, while the cabin provides rear-seat legroom.
The display vehicle is equipped with a central touchscreen, a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone automatic climate control, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a 360-degree parking camera and 19-inch alloy wheels.
Technical specifications remain limited, with only a claimed driving range of 550 km currently confirmed. The distributor will initially offer a rear-wheel-drive variant, with an indicative price starting from HKD 399,000. A dual-motor all-wheel-drive version will be introduced at a later date, although its indicative price has not yet been announced.
