Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) has launched the all-new Prelude, marking the return of the nameplate to the local market with a hybrid powertrain.
The model was previously discontinued in 2001 and has been reintroduced as a grand tourer (GT) featuring Honda's e:HEV system and a new S+ Shift function.
Developed under the ''Unlimited Glide'' concept, the sixth-generation Prelude is designed to deliver a balanced driving experience. It features a low and wide stance, a hatchback profile, 19-inch alloy wheels, and blue Brembo brake calipers.
The interior adopts an asymmetrical layout, with a driver-focused design on one side and a more comfort-oriented passenger area. It includes a 10.2-inch digital instrument display and an eight-speaker audio system. Despite its coupe configuration, the model offers a cargo capacity of up to 760 litres.
Power comes from a 2.0-litre engine paired with Honda's e:HEV hybrid system, producing 143 PS and 182 Nm of torque. The Prelude also incorporates suspension components derived from the FL5 Honda Civic Type R. Fuel efficiency is rated at 25.6 km/LGe based on figures from the Department of Energy.
A key feature of the model is the S+ Shift system, which enhances driver engagement by linking acceleration and deceleration with engine sound and visual feedback.
Safety and technology features include Honda Sensing, Honda Connect, and Google built-in services, providing a range of driver assistance and connectivity functions.
The Prelude is offered in a single 2.0 e:HEV E-CVT variant, priced at PHP 3,498,000 (US$ 58,305). It comes with a five-year vehicle warranty and an eight-year battery warranty.
The introduction of the new Prelude reflects Honda's continued focus on hybrid technology, combining efficiency with driver-oriented features in the local market.
