General Tire enters Malaysian market with new tyre range

General Tire has entered the Malaysian market through Continental Tyre Malaysia, introducing a range of tyres for passenger cars, SUVs, MPVs and 4x4 pick-up trucks.
As part of its entry into the local market, the brand is introducing its products and providing information on the role tyres play in vehicle safety. Tyres are the only points of contact between a vehicle and the road, making tyre selection a factor in vehicle handling, braking and the overall driving experience.
Founded in 1915 in the United States, General Tire has more than a century of experience in tyre manufacturing and is part of Continental. The Malaysian launch marks the brand's entry into the market through Continental Tyre Malaysia.
The company is introducing several tyre models for different vehicle segments in Malaysia.
The Altimax GC5 is available in 14-15-inch sizes for compact cars. It features a closed inner tread pattern designed to reduce road noise by disrupting airflow. Harmonic lateral groove angles are intended to promote smoother tyre rolling for improved ride comfort, while a high-rebound tread base compound is designed to reduce heat build-up, lower energy loss, increase tyre life and reduce rolling resistance.
The Altimax GS6 is available in sizes ranging from 15 to 19 inches. It features a chamfered tread design and structured sipes intended to improve grip and reduce braking distances. A closed inner shoulder pattern and noise breakers within the grooves are designed to reduce road noise, while a wear-resistant compound and even pressure distribution are intended to promote longer tread life and more consistent performance.
For SUVs and similar vehicles, the Grabber HT6 is offered in 16-20-inch sizes. It incorporates a tread pattern with a high number of adjacent sipes designed to improve water evacuation during wet braking. Continuous sipes on the tread blocks and closed shoulders are intended to reduce road noise, while anti-stone retention technology and chamfered tread corners are designed to reduce stone retention and minimise tread damage.
For 4x4 vehicles and pick-up trucks used in off-road conditions, the Grabber AT6 is available in 16-18-inch sizes. It features a cut- and chip-resistant compound, an ultra-tough steel belt, open shoulders, traction ridges and multi-angle sipes designed to improve durability and traction on loose surfaces.
The Malaysian product range also includes the brand's Visual Alignment Indicator (VAI) technology, available on the Altimax GC5 and Grabber HT6. The VAI system consists of small sipes on the tyre shoulder blocks. If these wear unevenly during the first 1,000 kilometres, it may indicate that the vehicle's wheels are not properly aligned, which could reduce tyre life.
As part of the Malaysian launch, all General Tire products sold in the country will be covered by Continental's Total Confidence Plan (TCP), which includes 12 months of road hazard protection and a one-to-one tyre replacement programme, subject to the applicable terms and conditions.
In addition, General Tire products sold in Malaysia will be covered by the brand's Lifetime Manufacturing Warranty, which applies to manufacturing defects.
General Tire products are available in Malaysia through Continental Tyre Malaysia. Customers can obtain further information or purchase tyres through General Tire's official online stores.
