Geely Group has indicated that it is preparing to launch its electric vehicle brand, Zeekr, in Indonesia.
The move follows the brand's introduction in the country in 2024. Zeekr has now been confirmed as part of Geely Group's business strategy for the Indonesian market.
One of the objectives is to compete in the electric multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) segment, a market that is expanding amid growing consumer interest in electric vehicles. This intention was demonstrated during the "Geely Refining Tomorrow" event held at the Mandalika International Circuit in Lombok, where Geely displayed its Zeekr vehicle line-up to members of the media and business partners.
The presence of the Zeekr 009 and Zeekr 7X at the event indicates that Geely is seeking to establish a presence not only in the mass-market electric vehicle and internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicle segments, but also in the higher-end electric vehicle segment in Indonesia.
Evin Ye, Vice President of Geely Automobile International, stated that Indonesia occupies a strategic position in Geely's global growth plans.
"Through this event, we demonstrate how Geely's strength as a global automotive group is starting to be more fully presented in Indonesia, both through its new energy vehicle lineup, ICE, and premium-luxury vehicles through the Zeekr brand," said Ye in an official statement issued on July 20th, 2026.
The Zeekr 7X is positioned as an electric vehicle with a focus on performance characteristics, including acceleration, handling and driving dynamics. Meanwhile, the Zeekr 009 is considered relevant to the Indonesian market. The electric MPV features a spacious cabin, upgraded interior materials and a range of features intended to support occupant comfort during long-distance travel. With Zeekr's official entry through its sole brand agent (APM), the 009 is expected to compete in the electric MPV segment against models already present in the market.
Geely builds long-term ecosystem
Geely stated that it will continue to invest in new energy technologies, hybrid systems, artificial intelligence (AI) and digital chassis technologies. In Indonesia, this strategy will be accompanied by ecosystem development in collaboration with local partners, including the expansion of dealer networks, after-sales services and consumer education initiatives.
"This approach reflects Geely's capabilities across a wide range of powertrains and its commitment to bringing the right combination of world-class lineups to the Indonesian market," said Ye.
