Dealers in Vietnam have begun accepting deposits for the GAC GS3 Emzoom ahead of its expected launch later this month. The compact SUV will be imported from Malaysia and is expected to be offered in a single variant.
The development follows confirmation from Warisan Tan Chong Automotif (WTCA), GAC's assembly and distribution partner in Malaysia, that it has exported the first batch of GS3 Emzoom vehicles to Vietnam. The SUVs are assembled at the Segambut plant in Malaysia, marking the first export of the model from Malaysia to the Vietnamese market.
According to WTCA, the first shipment is scheduled to arrive in June 2026. To support the programme, the Segambut facility has upgraded its production line, including the installation of dedicated body fixtures for left-hand-drive vehicles to meet the export standards set by GAC International.
The move forms part of a plan to establish Malaysia as a manufacturing and export base for GAC vehicles in the ASEAN region. In 2024, WTCA and GAC signed a feasibility agreement to develop left-hand-drive GS3 Emzoom production for export to Vietnam.
The GS3 Emzoom competes in the B-segment SUV segment against models such as the Hyundai Creta, Mitsubishi Xforce, Kia Seltos, and Toyota Yaris Cross.
In Malaysia, the model is powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged GDI petrol engine producing 174 PS and 270 Nm of torque, paired with a seven-speed wet dual-clutch transmission that drives the front wheels. It measures 4,410 mm in length, 1,850 mm in width, and 1,600 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,650 mm. Exterior features include a large grille, LED lighting, and 18-inch alloy wheels.
Inside, the GS3 Emzoom features a dual-screen layout comprising a 7-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch central touchscreen. Other equipment includes sports seats, wireless charging, a panoramic sunroof, automatic climate control, a 360-degree camera system, and an ADAS package.
The variant is equipped with six airbags, an electronic parking brake, hill descent control, and an ADAS suite that includes adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist, forward collision warning, autonomous emergency braking, traffic jam assist, and traffic sign recognition.
