Forland officially enters local commercial vehicle market
Kabar Oto, 4 Nov '26
Tangguh Utama Sejahtera (TUS), part of the MAS Group, has launched electric commercial vehicle brand Forland in Indonesia.
While electric passenger vehicle adoption has reached 20%, electric commercial vehicle penetration remains below 1%. Indonesia's national logistics market is valued at IDR 5,800 trillion (US$ 320 billion) and is growing at an annual rate of 10%-12%. The e-commerce logistics market is projected to reach US$ 5.7 billion by 2026.
Forland's production capacity and vehicle range
Forland has an annual production capacity of 7 million units and operates in more than 50 countries. Its product range includes the fully electric ET5 platform, available in Pick-up, Box, Aluminium Box, Cold Chain and Angkot configurations; the EL5e platform, which includes Dump Truck and Arm Roll variants; and the U7 and U9 Blind Van models.
TUS will provide after-sales services and spare parts support, drawing on the MAS Group's more than 25 years of experience. The company will also collaborate with StarCharge on charging infrastructure, CRRC on battery energy storage systems (BESS) and providers of solar energy solutions.
The expansion of Indonesia's logistics and digital commerce sectors has increased demand for last-mile distribution vehicles. Electric passenger vehicle adoption has exceeded 20%, while electric commercial vehicle penetration remains below 1%. TUS is entering the electric commercial vehicle segment to establish its presence in the Indonesian market.
"While electric passenger vehicles have reached 20% penetration, electric commercial vehicles haven't even reached 1%. This isn't just a business opportunity, but a strategic chance to shape the market from the start," said Jin Hong Lin (Darwin), President Director of Tangguh Utama Sejahtera (APM Forland Indonesia).
"Forland is here with the spirit of 'The Unseen Giant', presenting global capabilities that are now ready to serve and support the growth of the business world in Indonesia. We implement an application-driven approach to ensure that each vehicle responds to business load and route challenges with precision," Jin Hong Lin said.
The fully electric vehicle range introduced in Indonesia includes:
- ET5 platform: Pick-up, Box, Aluminium Box, Cold Chain and City Transportation variants.
- EL5e platform: Vehicles for medium-duty applications and urban construction, including Electric Dump Truck and Arm Roll Truck variants.
- Van category: U7 and U9 Blind Van models for urban logistics and daily goods deliveries.
