Can-Am enters local two-wheeler market
Top Gear Philippines, 9 Oct '26
Canadian off-road vehicle brand Can-Am has entered the Philippine electric two-wheeler market with the launch of its Pulse and Origin electric motorcycles.
The two models have arrived in the Philippines and were recently previewed locally. Can-Am is known for its three-wheelers, including large three-wheeled vehicles used on local roads and, in some cases, expressways. The company has expanded its product range in the Philippines to include electric two-wheelers.
The Can-Am Pulse is the more road-focused of the two models and has the styling of a naked motorcycle. Its design incorporates elements associated with its electric powertrain, while its sculpted bodywork is similar in form to that of Can-Am's three-wheeled models. The Pulse is equipped with alloy wheels and a single-sided rear swingarm.
The Can-Am Pulse is powered by an 8.9kWh lithium-ion battery and a 47 PS, 72 Nm electric motor. It has a claimed top speed of 129kph and a maximum combined range of 130km under the WMTC testing cycle. In city riding, the claimed range increases to 160km, while the motorcycle can cover up to 89km when ridden at a sustained 80kph.
Using a Level 1 charger, the Pulse can charge from zero to 100% in 5hr 15min, while a Level 2 charger reduces the charging time to 1hr 30min.
The Pulse comes with ABS and traction control as standard and offers four riding modes: Normal, Eco, Rain and Sport+. It is equipped with a 10.25-inch touchscreen head unit featuring BRP Connect and Apple CarPlay. The motorcycle rides on 17-inch wheels fitted with Dunlop Sportmax tyres.
It has a seat height of 30.86 inches (784mm), ground clearance of 146mm and a kerb weight of 177kg, with a maximum payload capacity of 151kg. The Can-Am Origin uses the same 8.9kWh battery and electric powertrain as the Pulse but has different range figures. It can cover up to 115km in mixed conditions, 145km in city riding and 84km at a sustained 80kph.
The Origin is designed as an adventure motorcycle and has a 34-inch seat height and 274mm of ground clearance. It weighs 187kg and is equipped with larger spoked wheels, measuring 21 inches at the front and 18 inches at the rear. The additional features and accessories available for the Origin are the same as those offered with the Pulse.
Both the Pulse and Origin are also available in '73 variants, which add accessories to the standard package. Recreation Powersports (BRP Manila) has not yet disclosed the exact pricing for the models. Both motorcycles are expected to be priced above PHP 1 million (US$ 15,900) but below PHP 1.5 million.
The Pulse and Origin expand Can-Am's product range in the Philippines beyond its three-wheeler models and introduce the company to the country's electric two-wheeler market.
