Brunei has become the first country in Southeast Asia to officially unveil the Kia K4 as part of the brand's regional expansion.
The unveiling took place on April 9th at the Kia showroom in Beribi and was hosted by Grand Motors, the exclusive distributor of Kia vehicles in Brunei Darussalam. The launch event brought together guests, partners, members of the media, and initial customers, outlining the position of the K4 within the brand's product line-up.
Among those in attendance were Clark Kwon, Head of Business Strategy at Kia Asia Pacific, and Sun Nahm Kook, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Brunei. They were joined by directors of Grand Motors, finance partners, and invited guests.
The event included the official unveiling of the K4, followed by a ceremonial handover of keys to the first customers in Brunei, marking the start of ownership for early adopters. Representatives from Grand Motors stated that the K4 reflects developments in design, technology, and driving performance, while indicating its presence in the Bruneian market.
Next-generation design and platform
Built on a new-generation K3 platform, the K4 has been engineered to improve refinement, with reduced noise, vibration, and harshness. Its larger dimensions contribute to increased interior space. The model is offered in both sedan and hatchback body styles, with two variants available: GLS and GT-Line. The design incorporates sharp lines, a dynamic profile, and lighting elements.
GLS
The GLS variant includes 17-inch two-tone wheels, matte black exterior trim, and LED lighting with Star Map daytime running lights.
Inside, it features cloth seats, a four-inch infotainment display, and manual controls. It is powered by a 1.6-litre MPI petrol engine paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and a torsion beam rear suspension. Standard safety features are included.
GT-Line: features and specifications
The GT-Line variant includes a sport-oriented design with 18-inch black wheels, a revised front bumper, and gloss black accents.
On the inside, it includes a 30-inch panoramic display, dual-zone climate control, and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. Additional features include leather and cloth seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel with paddle shifters, and an eight-speaker Harman Kardon sound system.
It is powered by a 1.6-litre turbocharged GDI engine paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and a multi-link rear suspension. Safety features include six airbags and advanced driver assistance systems.
Public viewing
Following the unveiling, attendees were invited to explore the vehicle and its features. The model will be available for public viewing and test drives at the Beribi showroom from April 10th, between 9am and 4pm. The introduction of the K4 marks the availability of a new model in Brunei, incorporating updated design, technology, and practicality.
